Where is IBC located?
We're on Route 14 on the Brockton/Whitman line (see map). By car, we're about 25 minutes from Boston and about 30 minutes from Plymouth. The nearest Boston Commuter Rail stations are Whitman (on the Kingston/Plymouth line) or Brockton (on the Middleboro/Lakeville line). Each is about four miles away.
How do I become a member?
See becoming a member for details.
What does "Immanuel" mean?
Immanuel (or Emmanuel) is a scriptural name for the promised Jewish messiah (Christ), meaning "God with us."
What does it mean to be an "independent" church?
Simply that we are not part of a larger organization like a convention, but operate independently (like a small business). Being independent gives us maximum flexibility to follow the dictates of our conscience in following God's word. It also means being entirely funded by our own people.
Would you describe IBC as a city church?
No. Located on the Brockton/Whitman line, we are in a suburban setting and are regional in attendance. Many of us travel great distances to worship here. We come from many locations, backgrounds and occupations. Our common bond in Christ unites us as true friends and brethren. We truly enjoy our time together and seek opportunities for continued fellowship.
