Today held many exciting activities for the kids. The boys hiked to the Fouth Falls, the second largest waterfall in NC, which is on the property of the Wilds. Sarah D is stiiiiillll debating on whether "to swing or not to swing" on the 60 foot giant swing. Tonite, they have the famous skit night, which is usually hysterical, followed by an all camp pizza party at 10 p.m. The kids are enjoying themselves and are all smiles when we see them.

Tomorrow, Thursday, is Family Reuninon time. Peter and I will take the IBC teens and have a time of devotions, and hear their testimonies, stories and general chatter about their camp experience so far. We went to Brevard, NC to stock up on some junk food for the event (and also hit some neat antique stores while we were there.) The Cornerstone teens may join us since their youth Pastor , David Neal, just moved to Illinois...they miss him!

Everyone is doing well, and you mothers can rest assured that they are safe, sound and happy!:)

Thursday-

Kids are doing well in this extreme heat! Today they were allowed to sleep in (7:30) and then they were served breakfast in bed. The girls are hiking to the fourth falls, except for Rebekah, who will be resting (due to Lymes!) The high school boys slept in the great outdoors last night after the game time and pizza party. I asked about misquitos and they said the only bugs that bothered them were Daddy Longlegs!

In the service last night, Steve Pettit preached on the putting off of lying and anger (Ephesians) and there were many great decisions made for Christ last night. Also, they were challenged to faithfully read their Bibles. It is always wonderful to see how the preaching of God's word can change lives. Peter and I have been challenged and stretched to greater faithfulness to Christ and are learning right along with the teens!

Friday-

Today is the last full day of camp. The kids are running around trying to do all of the things they missed during the week. The boys have been hard to find today(this is a big place,) but we caught up with the girls before they attempted the giant swing. They were all nervously excited to ride it, and I thought that Mr. Peter's knees would buckle as he watched them be released so high in the air.

Last night, Steve Pettit preached on putting away stealing in various forms, including not working and laziness, wasting other peoples time, etc... Then he touched upon corrupt communication. He taught that our tongues set the "temperature" for our youth groups and churches, and all forms of evil speaking needed to go, including gossip, criticizing others(either to their faces or behind their backs) and building ourselves up in other peoples eyes(bragging/pride.) It was an encouraging night as many of the teens made decisions to put off those things.

Last night Peter and I had a great time of fellowship with about 10 other couples in the youth ministry. We talked and played games until after midnight. We are thankful for the encouragement we have recieved here and for the warm spirit of the the believers here. But, we miss all of you at home and will see you Sunday!

Our teens did a great job traveling a grueling 18 hours to the Wilds Camp in North Carolina. Our van activities included talking, sleeping, eating, listening to some special CD's, such as "Crashes, Catastrophes and Collisions," "Animal Sounds: The Call of the WIld" and state/capital trivia. The teens had great attitudes and not one of them complained the entire trip. Though brief, our stay at the Comfort Inn was clean, neat and needed! We checked in at 11p.m and were on the road again at 7:30 a.m.

When we arrived at the Wilds there were great cheers (and it wasn't from Peter or me!) as we entered the "Campaign Trail" and our kids were assigned to one of three teams: the Lame Duck Party, the Bull Moose Party and the Red Tape Party. This week there are 800 campers here and even more enthusiasm in the air. Our girls were wisked away to their cabins, and the next time we saw them they had blue stripes painted on their faces, and were in great spirits, cheering for their teams during big ball volleyball. The same goes for the boys. In the evening, Steve Pettit preached a wonderful message on the theme for the week, the life of Joseph. His message, How Not to Live, spoke on not living like the Gentiles around us.

This morning, Peter and I had prayer time with the other sponsers, then had breakout sessions for men and women which were both very encouraging. We are both so thankful for the unique ministry that the Wilds has, and look forward to some great decisions for Christ by our young people!

We are truly thankful for the ministry of Brian and Johanna Hanson, who join us this month in ministry. Brian & Johanna (along with newborn Stefan) have followed what they believe to be God's leading in helping with the ministry here. Both are proficient pianists, and seek to serve the Lord primarily in our music ministry. Brian will head up the music ministry, and work at IBC about 20 hours each week. The Hansons come most recently from South Carolina; please pray as they settle in to our area, and for God's glory in their ministry here.

We are grateful to our Heavenly Father for connecting us with their lives, and look forward to serving our Lord together.
